It’s now official. I’m a legit New Yorker. Like, I attended a New York Fashion Week event and was accepted.
Tonight I made an appearance at the Kate Spade Saturday x Fab event. It was great. Fashionable people. Fashionable party. Fashionable drinks. I’m now so incredibly excited for Spring/Summer. There were so many cute and oh-so Kate dresses - I can’t wait to get my hands on them tomorrow when they’re live for purchase on Fab. Between the open back top and the splattered paint dress.. where do I start? How do I choose? Ahh, simple solution : buy both.
So long Fall, hello Spring.
This past Sunday I took the train to the quaint seaside town of Rowayton, CT. While I usually like to spend my patriotic holidays in Austin, TX (aka God’s country), Rowayton wasn’t half bad.
After a delish barbeque a few friends ventured out to the beach (about a two second walk) to stake out our spot in the sand. I had to make a tough decision between sitting in a beach chair or lying on a floating dock - dock won by the way. I spent the rest of my afternoon listening to the sound of waves crashing on the shore and debating whether I needed another cocktail. And to think I was so worried about my golden skin not reaching it’s peak this year.
New retro suit. Let’s go swimming.
Okay, let’s get one thing straight- when I made the move to New York I told myself I wouldn’t fall to the NY standards of throwing my hair in a bun and trekking sans make up to work.
I work in fashion after all.
However, the little walk I made this morning which ending in me dragging myself into my office dripping in dew from the summer sun cannot happen again. I need to fix this problem asap.
While I do want to fully fit in with the rest of the New York scene, I cannot deny my Southern roots. What that comes down to is this : I will not show up to work looking like something you pulled out of a drain.
I need to do a little summer work dress shopping now. As in tomorrow. Wish my bank account luck- let’s go shopping.
